		INNER WEST COUNCIL DRAFT "CLIMATE+RENEWABLES STRATEGY [CaRS]"

	Responding to the Climate Emergency - Climate Change Mitigation - August 2019

The Inner West Community Strategic Plan (CSP), "Our Inner West 2036", identifies the community's 
vision for the future, long-term goals, strategies to get there and how to measure progress towards 
that vision. 

For Council, the CSP is the leading component of an Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework. 

The framework is mandated for all NSW councils by the NSW Government and requires councils to 
demonstrate how they will deliver aspects of the CSP through a detailed Four-Year Delivery Program and 
annual Operational Plan. 

Figure 1 shows the relationship of the Climate +Renewables Strategy to the planning framework.

In response to the climate emergency Our Inner West 2036 aims to:

a	Achieve an Ecologically Sustainable Inner West, which is a zero emissions community that generates 
	and owns clean energy.

b	Demonstrate progressive Local Leadership where government makes responsible decisions to 
	manage finite resources in the best interest of current and future communities.
