COUNCIL DA LEVIES & ACCOUNTS NOTES

Mon 15 Dec 2008 REF:AEAYLFN1

TO:	Residents cc	Interested Parties

Dear All - whilst we have not received a response from our local Council
we have received some very interesting responses with regard to
the different DA Levies and Council Accounting Notes.

It appears that Councils are acting as Agents and would be considered
as "An Authorised Deposit-taking Institution [ADI]"

This is one response

> Hi Peter
>
> Response from our Finance Department
>
> 1	Long Service Levies from DA Applications
>
> Long Service Levies are collected on behalf of the State Government.
>
> We are an agent collecting the LSL levies on behalf of the Long
> Service Levy Corporation so the fees are not retained by the Council.
>
> 2	Security Deposits
>
> Security Deposits are held in the Council's Trust Accounts.
>
> They appear in note xx of the financial statement.
>
> 3	S94 Contributions
>
> Unspent S94 Contributions are restricted and invested with the
> normal term investments (such as term deposits).
>
> They appear in note xx of the financial statement.
