SURVEY OF GOVERNMENT E-PROCUREMENT ACTIVITY
The National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE) released the Commonwealth Electronic 
Procurement - Implementation Strategy in April 2000. 
The Strategy aimed to improve efficiencies and reduce cost for government and business. 
In reviewing the aims, goals and activities of the Strategy it becomes evident that a great deal
has changed since its development. 
Some activities have been completed with excellent results; others have been overtaken by time 
and technology or have proven impractical in the procurement environment.
NOIE is looking to develop a revised Strategy document, which takes into account the current 
electronic procurement environment within Australia and internationally.
A key part of this process is to acquire accurate and reliable information from key stakeholders 
which will enable the devised Strategy to address major impediments to electronic procurement 
uptake, and to identify appropriate initiatives to further encourage participation in electronic 
procurement by Australian Government agencies and suppliers.
