MANAGED TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE FAMILIES COMMISSION
This document is a Request for Proposal issued by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) on 
behalf of the Families Commission for the provision of a Managed Technology Infrastructure - 
‘the Infrastructure’. 
The Families Commission will begin operation on 1 July 2004 as an autonomous Crown Entity. 
The Ministry of Social Development is responsible for the establishment process. 
The Managed Technology Infrastructure solution will provide a comprehensive end to end solution
for the establishment, procurement, and support of IT products and services for the Families 
Commission.
MSD seeks detailed responses from Vendors with the knowledge, experience, size, and products 
who can work with MSD and the Families Commission to ensure a successful implementation. 
MSD recognises that for each category of product or service there may be many alternative 
models or options. 
MSD expects however, that Vendors will draw on their experience in proposing similar solutions
and propose the optimum solution for the Families Commission rather than presenting a 
"price list" approach. 
Where multiple options are bid, Vendors must indicate the reason why they cannot make a 
selection, and clearly indicate the pros and cons of each option.
