Our email to you 17:05 Mon 30 Mar 2020 "Evidence to Support Submission for Petersham Park
10-yr Plan 2020-2030" was to support our submission lodged at 22:30 Sun 29 Mar 2020
This email is to propose that local businesses promoted on Local Websites such as La Giara, The
Italian Forum, Petersham Bowling Club [PBC] and At Fernados as well as local Public Schools
such as Leichhardt Public School may be prepared to sponsor local Volunteer organisations
prepared to assist the Inner West Council achieve its waste management and greenhouse gas
emissions objectives
We note from the "Figure 6 Emissions in the Inner West by Sector and Resource Type" of the IWC
"Climate + Renewables Strategy" that Electricity usage is the major contributor to Greenhouse
Gas Emissions as 91% of the Non-residential Emissions and 51% of the Residential
Emissions are attributed to Electricity usage
This may be a very appropriate time for Councils to consider Pedal-Power bicycle clusters to
generate electricity for schools, old-age people homes, hospitals etc
After all, in 2008, Israeli students generated enough Pedal-Power electricity at a concert to power
the whole concert for 6 hours
In 2020 (12 years later) the technology and electricity storage have become far more sophisticated
A key part of the Pedal-Power process is Volunteers to pedal and generate the electricity hence
the proposal to the IWC Economic Development Strategic Plan [EDSP] on 25 Oct 2019 for a local
Volunteer eCredits system which is supported and overseen by the Council
We have the award-winning technology and we have had the expertise for over 20 years
All that is needed is Local Government support
Does the Inner West Council have the Vision to lead its population out of the "Trough of Financial
Despair" for rate-payers and local small business caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic ?
