Dear Vanessa cc Interested Parties
SUPPORTING EVIDENCE FOR SUBMISSION PETERSHAM PARK 10-YR PLAN 2020-2030
Further to our discussion on Wed 18 Mar 2020 about the cancelled Petersham Park 10-year
planning meetings this is evidence to support our submission lodged 22:30 Sun 29 Mar 2020 as a
transcript of our submission has not been provided and the On-line form did not request any
details about who was making the submission
The On-line submission for the Petersham Park 10-yr plan 2020-2030 (Att A) followed 6 months of
evaluation and research by members of the Open Interchange Consortium [OIC] and the
Sustainability Action Network [SAN] into the experiences of members and associates of the
Petersham Park Waste Collective [PPWC] which was formed on 29 Jun 2019
The key issues gathered from the members of PPWC can be summarized as:
A The IWC only provides degradable dog-poo bags which require heat or light to breakdown
into plastic pellets while other Councils eg North Sydney Council fully biodegradable dog-
poo bag
B The Council does not provide clearly marked waste bins in Petersham Park as it did at the
White Valley Creek Footloose Ecofestival on Sun 25 Aug 2019
C The Council does not use effective Project Management techniques eg the Grandstand
renovation project is 12-months overdue hence the 1990 Project Management Joint Venture
with Hampton School may be of interest
D The Council will not consider innovative Volunteer Management Schemes to support local
shop owners even though a submission was made to the IWC Economic Development
Strategic Plan in Sep 2019
E The Council does not consider more effective energy management inventions such as
Biogas Digesters to reduce Council Carbon Credit costs and manage park waste more
effectively as per the Joint Venture proposal on 18 Aug 2019
F The Council 10-year plans appear to be very inflexible ie any proposal submitted outside the
4-week Planning process every 10 years is ignored
In view of the economic devastation to local business by the Covid-19 virus this may be an
appropriate time for the Inner West Council to evaluate and implement this On-line Resource
Assessment Management Process [RAMP] for licence to other Councils
Yours sincerely
