E1	EUROPEAN COMMISSION "BLOCKCHAINS FOR SOCIAL GOOD" CHALLENGE

In May 2018 the European Commission [EC] issued the "Blockchains for Social Good"
[BSG] Challenge with 5 prizes of Au $ 1,500,000 for submissions due by 03 Sep 2019

SAN members consider that this "Biogas Waste-to-Energy" Pilot site Joint-Venture proposed
to the Inner West Council will be eligible for a submission to the BSG Challenge

E2	UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM [UNDP] FOR REFUGEES - ZAMBIA

In Nov 2017 SAN was contacted by Ian MILIMO of UNDP Zambia requesting assistance 
with their 15,000 refugees in one camp and 12,000 refugees in another camp

SAN members reviewed the "Engineer without Borders [EWB]" web-site with questions 
from Engineering students at 30 Australian and New Zealand Universities

Key issues were with the perpetual digging of latrines for Refugees and the lack of 
energy and power for water pumping, cooking and charging mobile phones

One of our SAN members Nicola PISACANE who lives in Leichhardt provided a number 
of articles about Biogas Digesters converting organic waste to Methane and Fertiliser

However a local pilot site is needed to research key issues about Biogas Digesters and to 
develop the skills for assisting Refugee camps with Biogas Digester installations
