ON-LINE TRAINING FOR THE AGED CARE FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT [ACFI]
Aged care service providers must comply with their obligations under the Aged Care Act 1997.
Aged care homes must be accredited under the Accreditation Standards for Residential Aged
Care in order to receive subsidies from the Australian Government.
The standards cover such things as management, care, lifestyle, quality and safety issues.
There are 4 standards, with 44 outcomes under these standards which must be met.
The Aged Care Providers could receive a subsidy by completing the Residential Classification Scale [RCS].
On 20 Mar 2008 the RCS was replaced by the Aged Care Financial Instrument [ACFI]
The ACFI is administered by the National E-Health Transition Authority [NEHTA] which is
also responsible for the Healthcare Identifiers Act 2010.
The Healthcare Identifiers Act 2010 stipulates a new 16-digit code to replace the 9-digit Medicare Number.
