| FEEDBACK REPORT ACFI WORKSHOP WED 30 MAR 2011
This is the Feedback report received about the Chatswood Aged Persons Cluster [APC]
(Postcodes 2060-2069) On-line Learning Workshop Wed 30 Mar 2011
A MANAGEMENT SUMMARY
a There are in the Chatswood APC 18 Aged Care Providers [ACP] with a total
of:
863 High Care Beds [HCB],
246 Low Care Beds [LCB],
14 Respite Care Beds [RCB] and
194 Secure Dementia Care Beds [SDB]
and 13 other Retirement Villages [RTV].
b Many of the ACPs and RTVs are members of 23 Multiple ACPs/RTVs [ACO] with a
total of nearly 600 ACPs and RTVs
c The registrations received from the Chatswood ACC were 7 Aged Care Providers
[ACP] and 4 Aged Care Organisations [ACO] as attendees.
d However only 1 ACO turned up to provide feedback although several ACP
registants phoned to apologies for not be able to attend for a number of
reasons including staff shortages and workloads on the day.
e However this person was the Executive Care Manager for an ACO with 6 ACPs
in NSW and 5 ACPs in Qld who considered that the Aged Care Industry was becoming
over-regulated.
f It transpired that this person had worked with the Department of Health in
the trials for ACFI in 2007 and had not had any ACFI submissions rejected,
yet was concerned about the training for Aged Care Workers
g This person confirmed that Computer training was very important issue for
the Aged Care Industry particularly computer training for the over 50 Aged
Care workers and Certificate II qualifications for all Aged Workers would
be very useful
h There are difficulties providing incentives for Aged Care workers for
self-learning other than more pay.
i The EHTSC believes this would be speedily resolved by the advertising and
new business fees from local APC web-site sponsorship by local
businesses receiving new business via local APC web-sites
j There is a need for Certificate IV training in Aged Care particularly for
Register Nurses to comply with administering medical procedures
