E-commerce driven by trade
E-commerce is being driven by Trade
Senator ALSTONS introductory presentation at Tradegate XML Conference 21/09/1999 to announce the ebXML programme emphasised the potential of XML to enable SME and developing countries to utilise E-commerce
- “I particularly welcome the opportunities that XML offers to SMEs, to developing countries and to economies in transition.
It enables them to enter easily into the world of electronic business and as a consequence could bring significant growth to world trade”
Notes:
Senator ALSTON provided the Introductory presentation ebXML conference at Tradegate 21/09/1999.
Although E-commerce is being driven by Trade we have to think beyond E-commerce to the exchange of all types of data such as X-rays, medical records, fingerprints, voice messages and video.
Senator ALSTON who spoke at the OIC Lunch Lecture in September 27th 1996 has identified the importance to encourage Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs) and developing countries to adopt E-commerce via XML.
This is a focus of the OIC XML Special Interest Group.
