Thinking in multi-planes for E-commerce
To appreciate the issues for E-commerce and Electronic Information Interchange you have to start thinking in at least 5 planes:
1 Vertical industry applications SIC codes
2 Horizontal applications Business Processes
3 Product classifications Harmonised System
5 Person authority to commit
We are at the start of setting the standards for E-commerce and Electronic Information Interchange.
We have to act locally, think, globally but plan intergalactically.
Notes:
UN and EFACT have recognised need to have structured information standards hence the formation of OASIS.
Requirement to monitor the various standard protocols not only for Electronic Commerce but for Electronic Information Interchange (EII).
This required co-ordination between the various standards including time and GIS systems
The planning needs to include communications between planets
