CONFIRMATION OFCONTRIBUTIONS FOR OIC EDCM PROJECT
This is confirmation of the services and resources provided for the Electronic Dangerous Cargo Management [EDCM] Application by members of the Open Interchange Consortium [OIC]. IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS I was engaged by Sydney Ports Corporation in January 2003 as a consultant to advise on the trade development capacity and structure of the port authority. Following a review of the trade activities of Sydney Ports, I was asked to complete and present a report on E-Commerce / e-business initiatives that may affect the port community of Sydney, and how E-commerce may improve current modes of trade through the ports of Sydney. This work and subsequent report was embraced by industry and SPC. Congruent with this, I was appointed Manager Commercial Services for SPC. Included within the realm of this position, my contact with DOTARS continued where I was invited by the Chairman of the Australian Logistics Council Security Steering Committee, David Williams, to join the committee to help participate and ultimately lead and facilitate work on the development of a set of IT business rules for the reporting and monitoring of high consequence dangerous goods in and out of Australia. No such system currently exists in Australia, and as such, the Australian Logistics Council has been given the responsibility by the Federal Government via DOTARS on behalf of industry to scope out a framework that may meet the objectives and criteria of a national online reporting system administered by a federal regulator yet to be nominated. I was appointed Chairman of the IT Sub-Committee of the ALCSSG, responsible for the construct of the IT Business Rules for such a national reporting and tracking system. The business rules were agreed upon by stakeholder representatives and facilitated by the Office of Transport Security. Yours sincerely Ben ANSON ECommerce Consultant
