PURPOSE

This is an invitation to participate in the development of a Y2K resource management project

NAME OF PROJECT

Y2K Resource Management project (Y2KRMP)

BACKGROUND TO PROJECT

The Federal Government has established a Year2K National Project team (Y2KNPT). Y2KNPT has established a Year2K Industry Council (Y2KIC). This Council is agreeing a strategy to raise awareness of the Y2K issue.

Y2KNPT is developing a National Advertising Campaign for Television and the media to run throughout June 1998. This campaign will notify the Public of 1800 number to contact in regard to the Y2K issue.

This project is to develop a Website/database Y2K resource management system.

OVERVIEW OF Y2K PROJECT

There are a number of modules of the Y2K project that may be of interest to OIC Project participants including:

  1. Development Web/database enquiry system

  2. Development Web/database skill register

  3. Manning Inbound Call Centre

  4. Ascertaining Y2K compliancy for inquirers

  5. Attaining Y2K compliancy for inquirers

  6. Confirming Y2K compliancy for inquirers


SCOPE OF THIS Y2K PROJECT MODULE

  1. Develop call centre enquiry information capture system using the Web and a variety of databases to capture the information

  2. Develop a Y2K Skills register of Information technologists prepared to assist organisations particularly SMEs:

    1. Ascertain Y2K Compliancy status

    2. Attain Y2K Compliancy status

    3. Confirm Y2K Compliancy

TIMESCALE FOR THIS PROJECT

The following timescale is governed by the plans of the Y2KNPT for a national television and media advertising campaign to start in June. This campaign will raise awareness of the Y2K issue and provide a 1800 number.
