No, but is desirable. things being equal acs membership would be a deciding factor.

Who has created the existing Web site?

Created through input from a number of people over time.

How many companies does the ACS intend on choosing for the tender?

one preferably.

Is there a preference for a particular ISP to host the site?

No

Will the ACS be looking for off and on-line promotion of the site?

WE would be interested in strategies for undertaking these.

Will there be a re-organising of the site content?

yes. We believe that this is essential and are looking for input.

Does dyanamic mean "regularly changed" or something else?

Regularly changed.

What databases does the ACS’s current information reside on? And will there be a need to integrate these DB’s?

It does not reside on any DB – it is held in HTML documents.

the ACS has a Universe-based membership system, which will have a browser based front-end.

Links to this system will be a requirement.

Will chat rooms be available on the site?

yes

Will the ACS be encouraging IT professionals to upload or contribute information and how will it be screened?

initially member contributions will be through chat rooms and newsgroups. Mainstream content would be screened.

Which of the functions shown on the matrix are password protected?

as an indication, most of the items for the management committee, branch executive committee, members etc will be password protected.

Is the membership form for ACS only?

NO - MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORMS ARE FOR NON –ACS.

What types of products if any be sold over the Web?

membership payments, course registrations, Conference registrations and packages, ACS mementos, Books (ACS Book Club), special offers (eg recent Modem promotion), Subscriptions to ACS Publications.

What is happening to the States individual pages?

The key here is consistency not necessarily uniformity – strive for a consistent corporate image.

Is the ACS looking for indicative or firm pricing and what is the prefered way of presenting this (hourly, on a project basis etc).
