	QUESTION FOR COUNCIL TUE 20 MAY 2008

Dear Madam Mayor and Councillors

As directed in your letter 21 Dec 2007 the Management Committee of the 
Kids Safe-at-Sport Mosman [KSAS-2088] will ask this question on Tue 
20 May at the Council Meeting.

Question 1  - Council support for Mosman Parents' Initiatives

The article by Bruce McDOUGALL "Child sex fears over volunteers" 
published in the Daily Telegraph on Mon 12 May confirms Mosman 
Parents' concerns about:

1 	deficiencies in the NSW Child Protection legislation

2 	sports clubs and youth clubs do not have monitoring system

3 	Child protection checks "impose unrealistic administrative 
	burdens on volunteer organisation"

Will Mosman Council be prepared to provide KSAS-2088 either a Community 
Development and Support Expenditure [CDSE] grant or a Healthy Local 
Government Grant for $ 15,000 to enable ALL sports and youth clubs
in Mosman including Rugby, Football and Cricket to comply with 
the NSW Child Protection legislation ?
