A Background to questions B Questions for Council Meeting Tue 19 Feb 2008 C Next Steps A BACKGROUND The Council Minutes have stated that: a Council invests on average over $ 55,000,000/annum (Council Agenda 2008/02/05 02.02.01 Investment Policy) b Council receives on average $ 3,799,832 interest/annum (Council Agenda 2008/02/05 02.02.01 Investment Policy) c The new SHOROC Association is proposing: 1 an increase in Sporting Clubs levies for Clubs 2 Schools to pay for Ground usage 3 Clubs and schools pay for electricity (Council Agenda Attachments 2008/02/05 SHOROC Board Minutes 2007/12/12) d Council review all Council Practices and Procedures Policies (2.3.g) (Council Agenda Attachments 2008/02/05 01.02.03 MOSPLAN Quarterly Review) B QUESTIONS 1 As the Council receives in excess of $ 3,500,000 in interest per annum why has the Council not commissioned the appropriate research into new Agenda items such as the SHOROC eTender System and the NSW Greenhouse Gas Scheme ? 2 Council holds over $ 55,000,000 investment assets and receives in excess of $ 3,500,000 in interest per annum. Why has the Council not considered the Kids Safe-at-Sport CDSE application for $ 25,000 as an appropriate investment to ensure that Mosman Junior Sports Clubs can comply with the NSW Child Protection legislation ? 3 How can the Council assure Mosman Ratepayers and Parents that the Mosman Councillors have/will have the experience and expertise to understand the Agendas and Reports provided by the new SHOROC Kimbriki Waste Management Company and the new SHOROC Association ? Mosman Councillors have not yet received a workshop on the Roles and Function of Councillors after 3 years as Councillors. (Council Agenda 2008/02/05 02.02.01 Investment Policy) One (1) Administrator, three (3) General Managers and Thirty Six (36) Councillors have not been able to comply with the NSW Association Act 1984 after 15 months as an Association.
