	STATUTORY DECLARATION RE CR SIMON MENZIES

Dear Madam Mayor

This is to provide you with a Statutory Declaration about an 
incident involving Cr Simon MENZIES in the Mosman Returned Services 
Club [Mosman RSC] last night {Att A - 4 pages}.

Peter AXTENS and Michael CLEAR have said on several occasions that 
they have been approached by Cr Simon MENZIES in Mosman RSC where 
he has made comments about faxes he has received but did not try 
to discuss Mosman Parents' concerns.

When I have been in Mosman Council Chamber to ask questions, Cr 
MENZIES has said words to me like "not you again" in an intimidating 
and derogatory tone.

We note that the General Manager's report 05 Feb 2008 states that 
"Council should arrange a workshop for ALL Mosman Councillors on 
their Roles and Functions".

As 3 years have passed since the last elections and new elections are
in Sep 2008 we will not consider if this was deliberate oversight.

However this letter is to stress how important it is for Councillors 
to understand, not only how Democracy is supposed to work, but also 
about their Roles, Functions AND Obligations as elected Councillors 
for the Citizens they represent.

NEXT STEPS

We suggest that your Mayoral Minutes this week could include a note 
that "in future a workshop will be arranged for all elected Councillors
 within 3 months of the Council elections".   Thank you.
