Dear Madam Mayor

SYNERGY BETWEEN KSAS-MOSMAN & FESTIVAL OF MOSMAN

A	KSAS-Mosman Seminar 25 Jul 2007
B	Background to Kids Safe-at-Sport & OIC
C	Development Web Applications for local Junior Sports Clubs

A	KSAS-MOSMAN SEMINAR 25 JUL 2007

Thank you for allowing me, as the Hon Secretary of "Kids Safe-at-Sport - Mosman
[KSAS-Mosman]", to speak at the Council Meeting 18:30 Tue 03 Jul 2007.

This is an explanation of the perceived synergy between the "KSAS-Mosman" event and
the proposed Festival of Mosman later this year.

Please find attached the schedule for the "KSAS-Mosman" Seminar at 18:00 on Wed 25 Jul
2007 (Att A).

Members of "KSAS-Mosman" are visiting every Retailer in Mosman several times to
discuss how Mosman Retailers can assist Local Junior Sports Clubs to comply with the
Child Protection issue.

Hence my efforts to speak when the question was asked "who would be prepared to visit
every shop to discuss their support for the Festival of Mosman ?"

We will be visiting every shop over the next 3 weeks to discuss local Retailer support
for local Junior Sports Clubs as part of the "Local Information Economy" (Att B)

B	BACKGROUND TO KIDS SAFE-AT-SPORT AND OIC

The "Junior Sports Information System [JSIS]" and "Kids Safe-at-Sport-Australia"
[KSAS-Au] Initiatives were developed as Internet "Local Information Economy"
applications by members of the Open Interchange Consortium [OIC] in 2004-2006

Please find attached a summary of monthly events held by the Open Interchange
Consortium [OIC] since its formation in 1994 (Att C).

C	DEVELOPMENT WEB APPLICATIONS FOR LOCAL CLUBS

In 2005 the members of the OIC eCommunity Special Interest Group [CZAG] were involved
in a Joint-Venture to develop a Junior Sports Volunteer Management System with
Pittwater RSL Football Club.

The survey conducted with Pittwater RSL Football Club revealed that junior and sub-junior
teams would be requiring Volunteers to develop and update Web Applications (Att D).

This new Volunteer Organisation structure was provided by the local Peak body the
Manly-Warringah Football Association [MWFA].

Mosman Football Club is a member of the same Peak Body (Att E).

A real concern is the promotion of Junior and Sub junior web co-ordinators by local
Junior Sports Team in the development of Web applications.

OIC members have recorded significant changes in Internet Service Providers [ISP]
services and costs over the last 8 years and are deeply concerned that Junior Sports
Clubs will be very vulnerable to increases in ISP fees and services to maintain their
web sites.

Hence the requirement of local advisers to ensure Local Junior Sports Clubs and the
Parents are not exploited on these issues

D	NEXT STEPS

JSIS and KSAS-Mosman will be explained in further detail on Wed 25 Jul 2007 if
Councillors consider it is of interest to their constituents.

As indicated at the Council meeting, we have considerable experience in event
planning, hence the offer to participate on the Festival of Mosman Committee if
required.

Yours faithfully

Stephen GOULD
