DRAFT RESPONSE TO DEWRSB EOI 2001/10 PREPARED FOR EBXML AUSTRALIA
DEWRSB The Tender Box EOI 2001/10 Ground Floor Reception 12 Mort Street Canberra City ACT 2600 Dear Sir /Madam This is a submission by ebXML Australia as a summary response to the EoI 2001/10 E-Commerce Initiative published by the On-line Services group of the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business [DEWRSB] on 4 May 2001. EbXML Australia was established in September 1999 as an unincorporated association of Australian Business. "It is part of an international group ebXML http://www.ebxml.org established by the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business [UN/CEFACT] http://www.unece.org/cefact and the Organisation for the Advance of Structured Information Standards [OASIS] http://www.oasis-open.org." EbXML members support the development of Extensible Markup Language [XML] standards and projects to accelerate the adoption of Electronic Commerce particularly by Small and Medium size business Enterprises [SMEs] EbXML Australia members meet on a monthly basis. This EoI was discussed at the meeting of ebXML Australia members on Fri 01/06/2001 when the members agreed in principal to submit a response to the EoI. This response was prepared and reviewed by members of the ebXML DEWRSB EoI 2001/10 Working Group. In the timescale available this response is not a detailed business plan but an overview of why ebXML Australia is not only the most suitable organisation but probably the only entity in Australia capable of assisting DEWRSB achieve the objectives defined in the EoI. This response provides an indication of the levels of expertise, commitment, experience and resources available to ensure that the long term objectives of this EoI are fulfilled.
