RESPONSE TO DEWRSB EOI 2001/10
10:38 Thursday 7 June 2001 REF:CPKA2E31 Y/R: The Tender Box The Chairman EOI 2001/10 Evaluation Committee DEPARTMENT EMPLOYMENT, WORKPLACE RELATIONS AND SMALL BUSINESS [DEWRSB] Ground Floor Reception 12 Mort Street Canberra City ACT 2600 Dear Sir/Madam This is a submission by the XML & E-commerce Special Interest Group [XZIG] of the Open Interchange Consortium [OIC]. This is a summary response to the EoI2001/10 E-Commerce Initiative published by the On-line Services group of the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business [DEWRSB] on 4 May 2001. The OIC was established in July 1994 as an unincorporated association of Australian Businesses. In December 1999 OIC members formed the XML & E-commerce Special Interest Group [XZIG] The objectives of XZIG include supporting the development of Extensible Markup Language [XML] standards and projects to accelerate the adoption of Electronic Commerce particularly by Small and Medium size business Enterprises [SMEs] The OIC XZIG has actively support and promoted XML in Australia through a series of monthly meetings. These monthly meetings have attracted a number of key international speakers including: Dr Lauren WOOD Chair W3C DOM Committee Canada Simon NICHOLSON Chair W3C XML Marketing Committee USA In the timescale available, this response is not a detailed business plan but an overview of why the OIC has the experience and management resources to assist DEWRSB with sections B and C of the EoI. This response provides an indication of the levels of expertise, commitment, experience and resources available to ensure that the long term objectives of this EoI, including assisting Australian SMEs actively adopt E-commerce, are achieved.
